Is GMPP Major Guard a GM Extended Warranty?

A GMPP Major Guard service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs of services. Most consumers call this a "GM Extended Warranty", however a GM service contract is not a extended warranty as defined by federal law. The separate and additional cost distinguishes a service contract from a GM warranty. A General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) may be arranged at any time and always costs extra; a GM factory warranty comes with a new GM and is included in the original price of the vehicle.

General Motors Protection Plans to Meet Your Needs

Choose the General Motors Major Guard term and mileage that is best for your situation. Coverage is offered based on years of anticipated ownership and annual mileage driven. Deductible choices are available from $0 to $200, meaning you can limit or virtually eliminate unanticipated out-of-pocket expenses.

GM Major Guard can be purchased at any time during the new vehicle GM warranty period; however, the earlier you buy, the better the value. If a vehicle is out-of-warranty when it is purchased, Major Guard for GM can only be bought at the time of vehicle purchase. You can even make GM Major Guard part of your monthly payment.

Repair paperwork is gone too, because everything is taken care of by your GM dealer.

You may also enhance your vehicle's value because if you sell your GM, GM Major Guard can be transferred to the new owner for a small administrative fee.

With General Motors Major Guard, your vehicle is protected. Regardless of the terms you select, GM Major Guard will give you peace of mind for the long run.
